About
About WildScope
An independent reference for the plant or pest in front of you, the native species it is confused with, and the responsible next step.
WildScope is a US-focused reference site for homeowners, gardeners, property owners and nature enthusiasts. It helps readers identify invasive plants and pests, understand why they matter, and choose a responsible management option without pretending that every problem has a simple answer.
What the site does
Species profiles follow a fixed outline: identification, look-alikes, range and status, why the species matters, management, and sources. Comparison pages put the decisive character first so a reader can avoid removing the wrong plant or treating the wrong insect. Guides cover method and timing across species rather than repeating a single species profile.
State pages exist only when there is a state-specific rule, reporting route or other verifiable fact to publish. WildScope does not generate a page for every state and species combination.
How the work is checked
Facts are attributed to official agencies, university extension services and primary documents. Each article shows a visible byline, a published date and a last-reviewed date. Pages that have not completed final editorial sign-off are marked needs human review in the page itself.
Read the editorial policy for the sourcing, correction and AI-use rules.
How the site is funded
WildScope is independent. It does not sell identification services, pesticide applications or removal work. The site is funded by display advertising from Adsterra. Ads are labelled "Advertisement" and do not influence what we publish. Any future affiliate relationship will be disclosed next to the recommendation.
What WildScope does not promise
WildScope does not guarantee an identification, a regulatory outcome, a treatment result or search ranking. Plant and insect identification from photographs or descriptions has limits. For a safety-critical decision, a regulated species or a large infestation, confirm the identification and the rule with your state extension service or the relevant agency.
