Privacy policy
This policy explains what WildScope processes when you read a page, including the third-party advertising that runs on the site.
Last updated
WildScope is a static reference site operated by the owner of yornchanpenh.com and aimed mainly at readers in the United States. It does not offer accounts, comments, uploads, saved searches or a newsletter, and it has no data-collection forms. The contact route is a mailto link, so messages travel through your email provider and ours; WildScope does not store them on its own systems. This policy explains the limited data that is processed when you read a page and the data that third-party advertising processes on pages where ads appear.
Information we process
Like most websites, the hosting provider processes technical request data needed to deliver a page securely, such as the requested URL, the time of the request, an approximate location derived from the network and standard browser headers. WildScope does not use this data to identify an individual reader.
If you send an email through the contact route, your email provider and ours process the message so it can be read and answered. WildScope does not add your address to a marketing list and does not publish the message.
Analytics
WildScope uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which reports aggregate page views, referrers and countries without cookies or local storage. It does not receive a name, email address or other direct identifier from WildScope. Retention is set by the provider; WildScope does not invent a retention period the provider has not published.
Advertising
WildScope displays advertising supplied by Adsterra, a third-party ad network.
Each species page carries up to two ad units: one 300 × 250 display banner and
one native banner. The units load inside sandboxed iframes served from
/ad-frame/ on this domain, and the sandbox is configured so that an
ad cannot navigate the page you are reading. Adsterra's own scripts load from
domains controlled by Adsterra, not from WildScope.
Adsterra and its advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers and IP addresses to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad (frequency capping), measure ad performance, and detect and prevent fraud. WildScope does not control those technologies or receive the personal information they collect. Adsterra's privacy policy explains its practices.
Ads are labeled Advertisement and are separated from editorial content. Advertisers do not review, approve or influence what WildScope publishes.
Cookies and similar technologies
WildScope does not set advertising or analytics cookies of its own. A hosting or security provider may set a strictly necessary cookie to deliver the site or protect it from abuse. Third-party vendors, including Adsterra and its partners, may place and read cookies and use similar technologies such as device identifiers or IP addresses when an ad loads. Those technologies are requested on the pages where an ad unit appears; once set, a vendor may recognize the browser on later requests, including requests to other sites. WildScope does not control those cookies or their duration, and Adsterra's privacy policy describes them.
Your choices and opt-outs
You can block or delete cookies in your browser, restrict third-party cookies, or use a private browsing mode. Blocking cookies may affect which ads you see but does not block the editorial content, which is served as static HTML.
To limit interest-based advertising from participating companies, use the industry opt-out tools:
- aboutads.info/choices, run by the Digital Advertising Alliance.
- optout.networkadvertising.org, run by the Network Advertising Initiative.
Those tools are operated by industry groups, not by WildScope. They rely on opt-out cookies, so clearing cookies in your browser can remove your choice. For Adsterra's own practices and any choices it offers, see Adsterra's privacy policy.
US state privacy rights
WildScope is operated by the owner of yornchanpenh.com and is aimed mainly at readers in the United States. Residents of California and of other states with comprehensive privacy laws, such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and Utah, may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to access or delete it, to correct inaccuracies, to opt out of targeted advertising and of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
WildScope does not sell personal information and does not collect account information. The third-party advertising described above may involve cookies and identifiers that California law treats as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, and that some state laws treat as a “sale” in defined circumstances. To make a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” request for that advertising, use the opt-out links above; those are the mechanisms the advertising industry provides, and they apply to the browser and device where you set them. You can also email contact@wildscope.example with the subject line Privacy request. We will respond as applicable law requires and will not discriminate against you for making a request.
Because WildScope has no accounts, we may not be able to connect a request to a particular reader without more information. If that limits what we can do, we will explain why. Where the law allows, you may use an authorized agent to submit a request.
Children
WildScope is a general-audience reference site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The site has no accounts, messaging, user-generated content, uploads or data-collection forms, and the only contact route is an email link. If you believe a child under 13 has sent personal information to us, email contact@wildscope.example with the subject line Privacy and we will delete it.
Third-party links
Pages link to government, university extension and other external sites. Those sites have their own privacy policies. WildScope does not control their data practices.
Retention and security
Technical request data is retained by the hosting provider according to its policies. Contact emails are retained only as long as needed to handle the request and any follow-up. The site is served over HTTPS and uses standard security headers, but no internet transmission can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.
Changes to this policy
This policy is current as of the date shown at the top. We update it when a data practice changes, including a change of advertising provider or ad format, and we change the last-updated date at the same time.
Contact
Questions about this policy, or requests under US state privacy law, can be sent to contact@wildscope.example. Use the subject line Privacy. WildScope is operated by the owner of yornchanpenh.com.
